Easter 2010 in Sardinia

This year Easter is from Friday the 2nd till Monday the 5th of April.

If you are plannign to spend Easter 2010 in Sardinia there is still good availability of flights from the UK from London to Cagliari and from London to Alghero.

Although at this point flights for Easter in Sardinia can be a bit more expensive than usual it is still worth to consider spending the long break here, and maybe take inspiration from one of our suggested itineraries.

Itineraries for Easter 2010 in Sardinia.

  1. Alghero - North West Sardinia: 4 days.

    Flights: Ryanair
    Flight time: 155 minutes
    FlightFR 232
    Fri, 2 Apr 10
    06:15 Depart
    09:50 Arrive
      FlightFR 231
    Mon, 5 Apr 10
    10:15 Depart
    11:50 Arrive

From Alghero Fertilia airport is then about 10kms to reach Alghero old town. You can either rent a car (preferred option if you then want to explore the surroundings) or take a taxi; it is about a 25 minutes ride.

Car rental: you can rent a car in Alghero at the airport or even better before you travel - Hertz has currently an offer through Ryanair with fares discounted up to 30%.

Hotel: at this point you will need an hotel and as for renting a car our advise is to book a room in advance to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

There are loads of offers at the moment but probably you will find the best rates for Alghero hotels on the Octopus Hotels site. As the old town of Alghero is quite small we would recommend to book a hotel in the centre as it would be a good base for exploring it walking.

Once in Alghero and you have checked in at your hotel it is probably lunch time. You won't have any problems finding a good restaurant so our suggestion is to leave your bag on top of your bed, close the door and walk out until you find the one that most inspire you.

If you really can not make your mind up we would say that the Angedras restaurant is a fine choice of which you won't get disappointed.

Now the time is all yours and options are endless, whether you want to walk around Alghero old town, browse the shops or just relax in one of the bars or coffee shops.

At this point you still have 2 full days in front of you (Saturday an Sunday) and probably a sightseeings tour and a visit to one of the beautiful beaches around Alghero are not a bad idea.

Amongst the numerous things to do we would recommend:

    • The stunning 'Grotte di Nettuno' - these natural caves can be reached by walking down 654 steps of the 'scala del capriolo' or alternatively from the sea by boat
    • Capo Caccia - where you can enjoy an amazing 360° view of the cape surrounding Alghero
    • Spiaggia della Pelosa - near Stintino and about an hour drive from Alghero you will be rewarded by a white fine sandy beach and crystal clear emerald coloured water
    • Le Bombarde beach - one of the most beautiful beaches in Alghero
