Stintino - North West Sardinia
About Stintino
A very popular resort amongst holidaymakers Stintino still resembles a fishing village in winter but when summer arrives the all town blossoms with life; there are bustling bars and restaurants and the hotels in Stintino can get very busy.
The town was originally built in 1885 as a detention centre by the Isle of Asinara’s inhabitants. Some of the original architectural aspects can still be found in the old town which lies on a peninsula between two deep gorges.
Very popular, and convenient if you planning a stay in one of the hotels in Stintino, are the beaches ‘delle Saline’ and ‘Pelosa’. Made to guard this coastline are two old Spanish towers which are named the tower ‘delle Saline’ and the tower ‘della Pelosa’. Just in front of the tower ‘della Pelosa’ is the stunning Isle of Asinara.
If you are planning to visit, make sure you book one of the hotels in Stintino before the crowds.
